Hidden Valley Road: Inside the Mind of an American Family by Robert Kolker

3.0

I picked this up since my fiancees brother has had schizophrenia for over 10 years. I was eager to learn more about the disease. Having the limited experience I have with it (mostly what my fiancee has told me) I was surprised at how much I actually knew already, which is also to say that there isn't all that much to know yet with this disease. My favorite parts by far were about the actual scientific research trials. The parts of the books focused on the Galvins were pretty sad and also heartbreakingly repetitive. [Specifically I also enjoyed learning about sensory gatjng, the effects of nicotine, and the early detection/prevention being worked on now. The progress is really interesting]
