The Future Is Disabled: Prophecies, Love Notes and Mourning Songs by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha

4.0

I enjoyed this book and it will lead me to other books on DJ. It didn't entirely resonate with me and there were a lot of references made to their previous works and others works that I'm not familiar with. I definitely will go back and read their previous work to be better informed though. Just a heads up that this definitely felt like the second or third book in a series and as my first book from this author that I'm checking out, I was lost at times.

Others have criticized the self-diagnosis and I would encourage you to read the other reviews of this book. I felt similarly.

HOWEVER- I do think this was a well- written, thoughtful book and a really good read on disability justice and care work.

For now I will continue to think about "wild disabled joy" and what that means to me for my future.
