Where to start... I wasn't entirely sure what to expect going into this book. I was nervous because I read The Hero of Ages in December of 2021, and remember how I felt after reading that. So based on how things went for those characters, I knew to expect a bittersweet ending, and Oh boy was it. It's tougher this time because I don't have another Mistborn book to read, but I do have the first book in Stormlight Archive, so I guess now is the time to start that series.

This book picks up six years after the ending of the last book, Bands of Mourning, a time-jump I wasn't fully expecting. But events in this book required a time jump. Marsi and Wayne are both constables and partners. I think that's a great team up, they equalize each other, far more than Wax and Wayne did in some respects. Wax has stepped up in his role as a politician, and there are several conflicts on the horizon.

I had no idea where this book was headed. Era 1 things were pretty clear, for the most part, of what needed to happen. The "prophecy" for who was going to save the world, the big mystery was who that hero was. In this book, all we know is that the Set needed to be defeated, but the how and their plans were the mystery.

Nothing happened the way I had expected it to. There were a handful of new characters, some very old faces, and some cameos from other Cosmere books. (Books I have yet to read). There are still some questions left unanswered, but I have to assume that all will be answered in time, maybe in Era 3 of Mistborn.

There are a few epilogues in this book, that follow many of the characters, and one epilogue had me very intrigued, and I am very much looking forward to seeing where they go from there.
