The Revenge of the Shadow King by J.S. Lewis, Derek Benz

1.0

You know those middle grade books that even adults can enjoy? This was not one of them. This was seriously painful to read. The friendships were trying to be Harry Potteresque however, they failed. No one likes a whiny kid. Ernie was so annoying and such a cry baby, that I am pretty sure Harley would have given him a beat down. The author borrows the Good Morning but from The Hobbit and doesn't even give it a wink and a nod. The older man is obviously suppose to be a Gandalf figure even down to his pipe. And don't get me started on the absentee parents. I don't think this book knew what it wanted to be. It definitely won't be read by me again. Please don't waste your time.
