Dogs of War by Adrian Tchaikovsky
4.0
Dogs of war by Adrian Tchaikovsky can be read on many levels.
On the one hand it's a quick and easy read, about bioengineered super soldiers, with strong animal traits. Rex's dog personality is supposed to make him extra obedient, though maybe not the best at tactical decisions.
On the other hand, there's so much more between the lines. What makes us human? Who should have the right to freedom? If you're basically a machine / animal hybrid, can you have no rights, despite being completely self aware? There's so much to think about in here, about morals, ethics, society and humanity itself, as well as the new struggles coming up, like KI and going past human DNA...
I really enjoyed Rex as a narrative voice as well, and personally just would have liked this too be a bit longer to give it 5 full stars.
