Your House Will Pay by Steph Cha

A compelling, engrossing look at racial tensions and their lasting impacts, affecting generations. All of the characters felt real, and the book challenged me as it did because I could see where each of them were coming from, which made it hard to decide what a satisfying resolution might look like. This is a timely book that would have been timely twenty years ago too--and that's sad to say. The U.S. has so much reckoning to do with its long, gruesome history of racial inequality. I only hope I'll live to see the day that my country finally does begin this reckoning.
