Bronte: Wuthering Heights
by Hilda D. Spear
I'm not sure I actually read this book in High School. This is what my kids will say, because I see them blowing off the hard books for buzzfeed and binge-watching TV's "Friends" episodes. Now that I've officially read -- well listened -- to this book, I know what I'd missed. The sweep of the story is huge and the telling is luxurious, like a bath. But it's also told in a voice I don't believe. The 1st-person narration, within a narration, within a third narration sometimes is tedious and false. But the story is good. More gothic than I'd 'remembered' or known. Good winter tale.
