Notes from a Trap Feminist: A Manifesto for the Bad Bitch Generation by Sesali Bowen

5.0

I absolutely loved this book. This book was a love letter to women, Black women, fat women, fat Black women, the hood, gettin’ money, love and lust, trap music and all of that combined. I absolutely loved how Sesali Bowen used her education in Women and Gender Studies to tie it all together. “When Rico Nasty thanks God that she didn’t have to smack a bitch today, she’s creatively channeling what Audre Lorde called ‘uses of anger.’” I felt that in my SOUL, baby!!! I listened to this on audiobook (read by the author), and I’m so glad that I did. I feel like this might just be a must read for Women and Gender Studies majors, especially Black women.
