American Queen by Sierra Simone

This funny little smutty book has been on TBR FOREVER!! Finally someone posted about loving it on a Facebook group I'm in and I decided to go for it! This was honestly the book I needed to help me out of my ginormous reading slump!

*Spoilers*

This is not the book for you if you're looking for some deep plot/character development. This book was smutty and freaking wild in all the best of ways! My one and only is I wish our main girl had a teeny tiny bit more backbone.

Lets start with Greer. I love her name. She grew up around politics and learned to read people. Though that wasn't fully developed enough. She only used her super reading people powers twice in the whole book. On her 16th birthday she  meets all man Army General Extraordinaire, Mr Maxen Ashley Colchester, Ash to her. He is super handsome and they have a connection right away. now I should be pretty ashamed of myself because Ash kisses her, knowing she's underaged and he's 26. But honestly, I'm choosing to ignore that small detail. Then he disappears on her. She write him emails for a year, very slutty and some innocent ones. But he never responds so she tries to move on.

5 years later she run into him again at a luncheon with her very important Grandfather. (I think he was the vice president at one time.) They once again share a private moment while looking at art together. Later she goes to a party where he is at and finds out he is engaged to be married. She is shocked and heartbroken. Come to the rescue Mr Embry. Ash's BFF who also happens to be very hot. They have a magical night together and she ends up giving her virginity to him. He is obsessed with her and says he wants to marry her. She leaves him her phone number, but of course, he never calls her back.

She moves on with her life. Gets her degree, and becomes a college professor. She is besties with her screw up cousin, who's name I can't remember for the life of me, maybe Abalain? But for someone who can read people so well, she sure fails with her cousin. Her cousin is AWFUL to her. Always subtly insulting her and making her doubt herself. She is insanely jealous of Greer and it's so plainly obvious. She is also obsessed with Mr President Ash.

Ten years after their first kiss Ash is president and Embry is Vice President. Greer is living her normal quiet life when Embry shows up and asks her to meet with the president. And all hell breaks loose. This story was full of twist and turns and I couldn't get enough! I was so irritated Embry and Greer took so long to tell Ash that they had slept together. There was no real reason. The constant, there's never been a "good time". You're basically living together. How is there no time!?! Especially after Ash told Greer about his relations with his half sister! And how awful he felt about some of the things he did in the war! She does finally tells him and he reacts by going and kissing Embry. Which to be fair, is a little messed up seeing as he is engaged to Greer. But she was hurt, but also thought it was hot? Oh and she is also in love with Embry so there's that!

This is the part where everyone finally admits they love each other and everyone feels guilty about it. It's adorable and heart wrenching. Ash is so freaking sweet and Embry is so freaking tore up about the whole thing. Ash proposed to Embry twice and he said no each time. I never got full clarity on why he kept turning him down. Maybe because it could affect Ash's political career?

Finally after so much heartbreak and yearning Greer and Ash marry and finally recognize the fact they can just have a throuple with Embry and everyone wins!

At the very end freaking idiot Greer gets lured out by her bitch cousin and kidnapped by the Carphians. I can't handle not knowing what happens next!
