On Such a Full Sea
by Chang-rae Lee
I absolutely devoured this book! Full of insightful philosophical musings, unexpected plot twists, and gentle suspense, it was the perfect engrossing novel. I think this book deserves to be in the dystopian cannon between Haruki Murakami and NK Jemison. Telling the story with an omniscient narrator using the second person was gripping, authentic, and intimate. I am left with several unanswered questions (how do the BMore people know Fan’s story? What happened with the 7 girls? Where is Reg? Etc etc) but I am also, weirdly, satisfies. Maze tov to the author on this incredible novel.
