The Lost Melody by Joanna Davidson Politano

5.0

This is the fourth book that I’ve read by Joanna Davidson Politano and she has definitely become one of my favorite Christian authors. This book ranks as my favorite of her books. The story is so interesting and shines the light on how little say women had in their lives in the late 1800s. Vivienne witnesses firsthand the lives of the patients in the Hurstwell asylum. There were several scenes and moments in the book that were very unsettling and sad to read, especially with knowing that these things actually occurred in the past. Joanna Davidson Politano is a gifted writer in every sense of the word…she puts words together in a way that is lyrical and beautiful. There were so many quotable phrases throughout the book.

The faith content was also extremely well done. The main character wrestles with her relationship with God all through the story and tries to reconcile God as a father as her own father was not a kind man or a good father figure for her.

Overall this was another amazing story by this author and I have now added her to my auto-buy authors list. Definitely recommended!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
