I came into this expecting a Thriller or some Dark and gritty Japanese crime drama, instead I got a fascinating insight into Japanese food, the relationships we have and make with other people as well as the judgement and expectations cast upon woman (especially to do with their bodies)
Slow paced and thought-provoking throughout. From the mouth watering food and cooking descriptions to the observations on life and relationships this is a must read and completely understandable how it won the “Waterstones Book of The Year Award”.
