There's Something About Merry by Codi Hall

5.0

I'm such a sucker for the single parent trope! This book delivered on all of the best qualities of that from the amazing/protective dad, cute small family rituals, to the outrageously adorable child!
Clark has raised his son alone since literally the day of his birth. He is so worried about breaking his kid's heart if he tries to bring another person into their circle, so he doesn't let himself have serious relationships. He can't deny his growing feelings for Merry, however, who has hopes of someday taking over the tree farm from her father. They strike up a relationship-adjacent (you know, the trope where they meet online and don't know it's the person they've become closer to against their will?).
Without giving too much away, their relationship arc is one of my favorites. It was easy for me to relate to both sides, and the added element of navigating a new relationship around a kid made the whole thing more believable when they said their I love yous.
The cast of characters in this book was amazing. Not only do we get an amazing lead couple, but there is also Merry's family (who we meet and easily fall in love with in the first book in this series), Clark's brother who was hilarious, and of course his son, Jace, who's adorable beyond reason!
It was such a fun read. I was smiling so much throughout the whole thing!
