Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah

5.0

I knew nothing about Trevor Noah before reading this book and honestly I knew embarrassingly, shamefully little about South Africa. I loved every minute of reading this and could have read it in one sitting. How did he manage to write about such harrowing topics with such rationalty and humour? I really didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did (although enjoy isn't really the right word for it because of the topics). Noah's wise and thoughtful reflections on race, poverty and violence were standout parts, as well as just learning about apartheid and SA history.
