yall...
this book is a wild ride (despite not much plot happening throughout the book)

its a difficult book to review because i definitely didn't hate it.. but i didn't really like it either??

it's like if the author took a classic folktale, and for each character removed all characteristics other than their worst qualities and then turned the nob up to 100. or like someone making direct eye contact and then setting their own house on fire with them in it?

not much happens in way of plot, and there isnt really any character development, and yet i was glued the whole time and i couldn't really stop reading it?

i think its a pretty decent book to showcase bad people yet good characters, like they all do vile things and yet they are for the most part pretty interesting characters and thier motivations (while super messed up) were fascinating to explore --- even though there really wasnt any character development, like they didnt really change they just kinda shifted into placing their frustration or anger or sadness onto other places - there was not an ounce of introspection really

i kinda felt like a lot of the horrifics acts were more there for shock value that any real plot reasons, especially because alot of the characters that had terrible things happen to them werent really given the space to show how it affected them
especially for agata, she really just kinda existed  as a person that bad things happen to and then never given the space to process of show how it affected her, she was kinda like a cardboard cutout of charatcer, and this might be a way of showing how trauma can make someone just burrow into themselves but tbh i dont think this book really had that kind of depth, especially because she unceremoniously dies and is just kinda used to ~develop~ jude and maleks characters

its not like any of the acts are glorified but they arent really condoned either, it just kind happens.

i think the best praise i can give this book is that i couldn't stop reading it , so that must count for something
