"– It shouldn't be wrong, to love you. How can it be wrong?”
“– It's not wrong, sweetheart. It's not,” I said. “They're wrong.”

At first, I was skeptical about picking up “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo”. I mean, another story about a Hollywood superstar and her revolving door of husbands? I wasn't sure it would hold my interest. But after reading numerous glowing reviews, I decided to give it a chance, and I am I so glad I did.

This book is a beautifully crafted story about love – love for oneself, for a best friend, for a child, and most importantly, forbidden love. It's a tale that takes us back to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood in the mid-twentieth century. A girl from a humble background in New York dreams of becoming an actress and does everything in her power to make her dreams come true. However, this cliché story takes an unexpected turn when she meets the love of her life, who is not any of her seven husbands, but someone entirely different.

What makes this book stand out is the way it handles the complexities of forbidden love in the conservative society of 1950s America, under the constant glare of paparazzi and the watchful gaze of the public. The author does an excellent job of portraying the blissful and heartbreaking nature of this love, showing the sacrifices that one has to make to keep it alive.

But “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” is not just a love story. It's also a story about strength, sacrifice, and the power of forgiveness. It delves into themes of identity, race, and sexuality, making it a book that will resonate with readers on multiple levels.

Overall, this book is a stunning work of fiction that will leave you breathless. The writing is very engaging, and the characters have both admirable qualities and imperfections that make them human and relatable. It's no surprise that this book has received such high praise, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in search of a captivating love story that evokes strong emotions and leaves a lasting impression.
