Dark Blood by Christine Feehan

2.0

Frankly this book is lucky to get two stars. There were only a couple of things I liked about this story.
One was the brotherly banter and relationship between Zev, Fen and Dmitri.
The other was one particular scene where some of the Carpathians gather to dance under the stars. The scene was sweet and lovely and somewhat nostalgic as we get a glimpse of previous main characters enjoying a light moment.
It goes downhill from there. The repetition in this story is ridiculous. One example was being reminded what felt like every other page that Zev is a 'Guardian of All' not a Sange Rau. Yes we know!!! And so does everyone else!
There were alot of spells in this book. Yes,I get that they were battling mages but having that amount of spells was unnecessary and was really only filler. The only advantage was the spells were written in a different font and format so I was able to skim.
And finally to my biggest problem. The sex scenes. They were so badly written. For one thing they were ridiculously long. For another some of them were frankly disturbing. I've noticed it in the most recent books in the series. The sex scenes are becoming more drawn out and explicit. There is less tenderness or romance and more straight up rough sex scenes. As for one particular scene,it crosses a whole lot of lines and was wrong on so many levels. Actually the more I write in this review, the more I think of changing it to one star. I'll leave it at two only because of the sweet group Carpathian scene.
One of the worst books in the series.
