Down the Rabbit Hole by Juan Pablo Villalobos

mysterious reflective slow-paced

4.0

Though short, Villalobos' prose is the most successful example I've ever read of the "child's perspective on adult horrors they cannot understand". Tochtli's perspective is simple without being clunky, and throughout felt very true to a childlike approach to learning new things and how children interpret the actions and words of adults.
A short read which is easy to read, pleasantly challenging but not dense. Definitely not for everyone, but recommended for those who enjoy something a little different.
