This was my book club’s pick for July and honestly it’s probably one of the first works of translated fiction we’ve consumed together  and I’m really excited to see what everyone thinks of this tale.

Our FMC, the housekeeper/Nanny in this story has had a rough go of it, and what’s worse, she’s woken from a haze in an isolated interrogation room, defending herself for a case we know nothing about. Speaking to an assumed group of investigators behind a sheet of tinted glass.

The little girl she Nannies for has passed away and it’s likely suspicions are placed in het direction. But told through a recounting of memories and trauma dumping, readers get an inside scoop into the horrors that sculpted a broken family, who paint their smiles on for the outside world to believe in.
