Hideaway by Penelope Douglas

4.5

yes you guessed.. another 5 star read of a book by my baby penelope. she’s the best. and this whole series.. has my entire f*cking heart!! 😭

this book will follow the story of our 2nd couple - Banks and Kai. it’s difficult to talk about this book without giving spoilers of the 1st, but basically this book takes place after corrupt, and after Damon disappeared. while the rest of the group try to find him, a new character enters in scene: Banks, his sister [and no one knows she’s his sister]. and why she appears? well.. let’s just say she always had a connection with Kai over the years.
just like in corrupt, we have 4 povs: Banks’ pov in the present, Banks’ pov 6 years ago, Kai’s pov in the present and Kai’s pov 6 years ago.

the fact that there’s this dynamic between POVs and times makes the story even more interesting.
I admit that I was surprised by Banks, because I’ve always seen people talk about her as a badass b*tch and in this book she isn’t quite like that. she has her badass’s moments, but mostly she’s a sensitive, sad and confused girl. my poor baby. but even so, I loved her.
Kai, on the other hand, I could always see from the other book already how he is: calm, thoughtful, calculating and caring.

for this book, since I can take the risk of giving you spoilers, I’ll leave here some key words: priest, confessional, snakes and The Pope. 🫢

also, things you should know if you want to read it:
•dark romance
