With a powerful message about life, a kick-ass heroine and some awesome artwork, Username: Evie is such a fun story that literally takes you to another world.

Evie is alone in the world. Unable to fit in, her dad is her only friend and the getting in the fridge is the only way to escape reality. When he dad passes away, she discovers that he has created a program that will whisk her away into a virtual world. E.scape is a world where Evie can really find herself and escape the hate negativity of reality. But when Evie's cousin Mallory, who also happens to be her biggest hater, stumbles across E.scape and enters the world created for Evie, all hell breaks loose and Evie's safe haven is soon destroyed. In order to find herself, Evie must save E.scape before it becomes corrupted beyond repair.

I love Joe, so when I heard he was bringing out a graphic novel, I was very excited! I went into this book knowing very little about the actual story, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything that the book had to offer. I really enjoyed the art style and felt it went so well with the story - well done Armit Birdi!

The only problem I had was that the climax of the story didn't feel like it went long enough, and everything was soon resolved in a few pages. There was a pretty good build up, but the action just felt a little anti-climactic. I would have loved to see it a big longer and stretch out the main action of the story. I also would have liked to see more of the E.scape world before everything went crazy and shit went down. I feel like this would have really helped with the world building, which I think the story lacked in a little.

Overall, I enjoyed this graphic novel - the storyline was beautiful and the illustrations were suburb. You don't have to be a fan of Joe to enjoy and appreciate the story, and I recommend it to anyone who loves graphic novels, or wants to get into the genre. I hope Joe has more stories buzzing around in his head, because I'd love to read more graphic novels by him.
