Relentlessly bleak, way too long, frustrating and kinda repetitive. It could have benefited from better editing. It would have made for a stronger, more affecting novel had it been shorter and more to the point. This story didn’t need more that 200 pages… A huge trigger warning for anyone who can’t stand reading about animals being tortured, mutilated, killed. It was horrible and I wish I had skipped those paragraphs.
