Flight Risk by Joy Castro

Hmmm, there were moments were I loved Castor’s novel. The writing pulled me in and I felt the depth of Isabel’s disparity, her loss, her pain. And then I would be overwhelmed by all of it as if it was just too much. The endless descriptions of feeling alone and lost, the humiliations, the pain. I found myself thinking, just move on at some spots. But Castro did her job well and pulled me in wanting to know the back story and keeping me connected. I wasn’t surprised my the turn of events, I predicted many of the events of the final chapters. Some turn of events seemed a little too planned and others seemed almost far fetched or forced.
All and all, the writing is strong. The story reminds us of trusting when it’s hardest to trust of being open to every day and the depth our past can impeded our present.
