This is an absolute firecracker of a romance. The dialogue is quick-witted, the plot is pacy and yet detailed, the characters are very multidimensional and easy to root for - and the steam is absolutely off the charts. The Roommate brings some excellent nuance to complicated themes across a wide-ranging spectrum, from bearing the weight of familial expectations to undoing taboos around female sexual pleasure. It's not perfect; it does dip into a few tropes, and the plot structure is very predictable,
following an overused structure in romance novels with a completely foreseeable third act crisis).
But overall, it's a funny, charming, flirtatious and well-considered addition to the romance genre.
