Wow. What a terrific and important book. Was not expecting to be as affected as I was by this book. The last 1/5th hit me in the chest so hard. I read this as an adult and although it is YA, I would say it is for mature 16 and over as the content is quite heavy. Having said that, I think many non young adults will too find the themes necessary in today's dialogue on mental health. This book is loosely based on the authors' own experience of losing a boyfriend to suicide and her father passing from cancer a year later and the differences in how people respond to a death by suicide vs a death by cancer. There is so much to admire in this work but the main things that stand out are the authenticity and honesty in the writing. Heartbreakingly brilliant.
