Goodbye Days
by Jeff Zentner
I will say that I really enjoyed this and the overall idea really unique. Goodbye Days are about a boy named Carver who has recently lost his 3 best friends due to a car accident he may have caused. He is worried about being convicted to go to jail but also being lonely. He later becomes friends with the girlfriend of one of the three who died. Their relationship is what keeps him sane but later he doesn't even have that. Throughout the book, he has "goodbye days" to remember the friends he lost. During these days he does things to remember each of his friends.
I did enjoy the book, and the idea of "goodbye days" however I felt the book lacked anything unique beyond the initial idea. Carver was a typical teenager who was really close to his sister, which was really fun to read about. His relationship with his friend was somewhat of a cliche of all friend relationship. And other cliche things that made me feel like the book was a collection of things from other books. Despite this, it was a quite enjoyable read and I would recommend it to other people since the concept is still really cool.
