This book would piss so many people off if they could read.
The narrative itself and its' prose is rich and vibrant, making the reader feel as if they are within the scenes it depicts. It's clear that the author has reflected upon her thoughts and emotions throughout every major plot point of her story, and she is masterful in weaving these insights within her compelling narrative. Westover's book is more than a mere retelling of her admittedly unbelievable life story. It's a rumination and reflection on the importance of education and literacy. It's a journey of spiritual awakening in many ways, a journey to moksha - freedom from a life of cyclic turmoil. At the same time, it serves as a greater warning to Americans, especially in these times. Truly brilliant work.
