Blood Water Paint by Joy McCullough

a beautiful book that gently cuts into the soul with a painful, blunt sword. i loved the way it was structured with artemisia's perspective being in verse and her mother's stories of Susannah and Judith being in prose. i loved the comments her mother gave while telling the story, it made me feel as though I wasn't reading about it but as though I was artemisia lying on my mother's shoulder listening to her teach me a lesson through stories of strong women.

i wish I could write more but I am at a loss for words-this book touched me in so many ways. it will definitely be re-read and recommended to everyone in my life.m
