Kafka on the Shore
by Haruki Murakami
This is the first work by Murakami for me. It's such a bizarre story. Incredibly weird things keep happening throughout the book, all beyond any reasoning. I am afraid that I did not quite get most of the symbolisms of the surrealistic events in this book. I tried to find the possible meanings behind the metaphors, but miserably failed most of the time. And yet I could not put the book down. The story pulled me into its own world and although incomprehensible, that world was intriguing at every step. The story keeps moving between dream and reality until all the boundaries blur beyond recognition and may be that's what makes the reading experience so different.
