Right, I read the first two books of this trilogy before I started reviewing or posting about books so while this is a review of Scythe & Sparrow I just need to add a little note that this is a 5 star trilogy for me. No notes. Loved it. Cackled, cried, kicked my feet, threw out my ice cream.
I wasn’t super excited for Fionns story because I felt a bit like “oh this is the straight edge boring brother” but ooooooooohhhhhhhhhmagod I take it all back. This couple, the circus, the tarot, the heartbreak, the vengeance against awful men. CHEFS. KISS.
I was so sad (in like a lovely happy way) when I reached the epilogues. I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters they are so complex and funny and interesting and funny and violent and FUNNY.
I’m hoping against hope that epilogue 2 is a signpost for more stories in this world??????? But even if not take a bow Brynne Weaver, you’ve made “I see the intricate pattern in the web” both utterly beautiful and disgusting to a point of being unhinged, and you’re a genius for it.
