The Queens' English: The LGBTQIA+ Dictionary of Lingo and Colloquial Expressions by Chloe O. Davis

slow-paced

1.0

I was really disappointed by this book (I read the British edition, being Australian). There was a number of things I was disappointed in: one being the book is actually quite acephobic. Many of the definitions relating to asexuality are offensive. Additionally other aspects of the book are unnecessarily explicit (e.g. examples for words that don’t relate to sex) which makes ace readers uncomfortable. The book is beautiful, but almost impossible to read if you’re visually impaired, suffer from sensory disorders and/or migraines. Finally, some of the British additions are highly offensive to ‘crown territories’ - since most ‘crown territories’ want nothing to do with Britain, predate Britain with marriage equality laws.
