I usually don’t like stand alone books but this is an expectation. This book helped me out of a large reading slump I had, this means that this book had: romance, action, mystery, a woman main character that is strong and powerful, and handsome love interest.
What I liked:
I loved how the book was nicely paced and nothing was rushed or repetitive, which I feel happens a lot with books with the plot of “woo the king”.
I liked how the main characters were different from the typical MC like in other books that I’ve read. This was refreshing, because the MC took no bs from anyone, they were rude, cunning and self-centered. Which makes sense for people who were born in nobility in that period of time. This added a realistic element to the plot.
What I did not like:
I which there were more spicy sense, I feel like with all that sexual tension that the author put us through, there should have been an increase in that department.(although it wouldn’t have added to the development of the plot whatsoever)
Overall, I recommend this book for people who are getting started with reading, or for someone who wants a fluffy but interesting book that includes a nice plot twist.
