Animal Farm by George Orwell

I have been wanting to read this book ever since reading 1984 in high school. I recently picked it up on kindle unlimited after seeing it was only 55 pages. I flew through it. In a way I feel under-qualified to review a classic social commentary like this because I am still unpacking so much in each scene. There is the blatant classism, but there is also the glimpse of a socialist/communist world that slowly transitions into the same society as corruptions grows.

Snowball and Napoleon represent two sides of politics, and in a lot of ways they parallel Democrats and Republicans. The slow and methodical demonization of Snowball was sad and interesting. Slowly Napoleon and Squealer changed one piece of the story at a time until no one was really sure what had happened even though many of them had been there watching it. To me this represented how stories and gossip can grow and take on a life of their own whether politically or socially.

I really liked this book and it made me think.
