I Might Be in Trouble
by Daniel Aleman
A Must-Read for Anyone Who’s Ever Felt a Little (or a Lot) Lost (Spoiler free)
Sometimes, you just need a book that gets you and I Might Be in Trouble by Daniel Aleman was exactly what I needed while taking a quick break from my mountain of fantasy reads. This story is so well written and deeply relatable for anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community who’s ever wrestled with self-doubt, identity, and the overwhelming fear of making the wrong choices.
David’s journey hit me hard. Not only is he navigating all the usual struggles of figuring out who he is, but he’s also dealing with crushing anxiety, guilt, and the fallout of a one-night stand that spirals into something way more complicated than he ever imagined. The stakes are high and not just in terms of right or wrong, but in the way he perceives himself and his worth. Aleman writes with such honesty that I felt every ounce of David’s fear, hope, and self-doubt.
Despite the heavier themes, there’s a warmth to this book that made it impossible to put down. The characters feel relatable and familiar, the emotions are raw but never overwhelming, and by the end, I just wanted David to win. If you’ve ever felt like you’re one misstep away from total disaster-whether in love, friendships, or just existing, this book will speak to you. Highly recommend!
