I have always wanted to read this for many years as it’s one of those classics that everyone seems to recommend. Plus, the movie “The Hours” (starring Nicola Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep) and the novel by Michael Cunningham hyped the intrigue for me, but I have been wary as classics and me never get on.
And I tried. I really tried to get into this. But I never warmed this to Woolf’s writing style which was a conscious stream of thought and very repetitive. Because of this, the characters were kept at a distance and I never cared for any of them.
I think I have to accept that classics aren’t for me.
