I've never read an Inspector Gamache book before, but this book has made me a fan. The mystery was interesting as it was actually divided into three separate cases. The setting - Quebec City - was unique and added a lot of charm to the story. There was also a great deal of fascinating history about Quebec as well. The Inspector is a terrific character - strong and sensitive and middle-aged (It's always a relief to me to be able to read about a character who is as old as I am.) I'm definitely reading more books in this series.
