challenging emotional reflective sad

I knew going into this it was a prequel type of book for Gypsy-Rose's upcoming full-length memoir, but the whole book still struck me as strange. It's like simultaneously reading someone's diary and eavesdropping on their phone calls. The book seems to be a chapter by chapter outline for her memoir and felt like a poorly written draft, if I'm being honest. I imagine writing a book while in prison is a logistical nightmare, so I hope that the memoir that's coming gets the writing and editing support it deserves so that Gypsy can tell her story.

I certainly have a lot of respect for what Gypsy-Rose is doing by sharing her story and taking back her life. She grew up in a horrendous situation that ended with deadly consequences. Up until this book, it's mainly been a story told by 2nd or 3rd hand knowledge, and apparently, not everything is accurate. This book gives a glimpse into her side and essentially sets us up for what's to come in her memoir. I may not have thought this was a great read, but I'll absolutely read her full-length memoir when it comes out.
