The Christmas Boutique: An ELM Creek Quilts Novel by Jennifer Chiaverini

2.0

I thought this series was dead, so I was very excited to find out another book was being published. And yet, it really fell flat. Like many of the later books in the series it just recaps a lot of backstory that has already been told multiple times.

Mary Beth turning the heat off? Any adult woman who has grown up in the northern climate wouldn’t make that mistake.

Nancy and Melanie completely hands off in the set-up of Elm Creek Manor falls flat too.

It’s generally a feel-good story with a few cranky characters thrown in to add unneeded drama. I would have loved an actual novel made up of new stories though, not just recycled old ones.
