The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness by Eric Jorgenson
5.0
Great book. Main points:
Leverage in every aspect of life is key to success. Leveraging your time your money your relationships.
The best workout you can do is the one that you love doing everyday.
Find something that you love to do and that's what you should be doing with your work life. It's play to you, but is work to somebody else. They will never be able to keep up with you since they can't play 16 hours a day
Cuz most people are intimidated by math, and cannot critique it. They are easily bought into ideas that are backed by math or pseudoscience.
A calm mind, a fit body, and a house full of love. These things cannot be bought, they must be earned
Three big things in life are wealth health and happiness. We pursue them in this order. But it should be in reverse
All screen type activities lead to unhappiness, all non-screen activities lead to happiness
It's the news job to make you anxious and angry
To be successful with wim hof, try and use his breathing method which is hyperventilating to increase the oxygen and core temperature in your body before stepping into the cold shower for 2 minutes
That makes you satiated, sugar makes you hungry. Sugar overrides the fat satiation. Try to avoid foods that contain both sugar and fat at the same time
With meditation, 90% of our thoughts are fear based. Once you realize that it's just a fear, the fear goes away without even trying. For example, that guy over there is having a bad hair day haha. I use that comment to make me feel better about myself and my own hair, because I'm losing my hair.
Your mind is like an out of control monkey throwing feces against the wall. A complete mad person that you have no control over. Meditation is not trying to control your mind, it's realizing that your mind is uncontrollable and crazy. This makes you want to distance yourself from your own mind
Create systems, and not goals. Goals are temporary and don't necessarily create any habits. Systems allow you to be successful in many different settings and universes and timelines and take more of the luck out of being successful
There are no adults, everyone is making it up as they go along
Before you lie to another person, you must at first lie to yourself
If you can't see yourself working with someone for your whole life, don't work with them for even a whole day
Praise specifically, criticize generally
