Allegiance by Susannah Sandlin

WTH? This book is the worst one in the series for a number of reasons: first, Melissa died from having her neck snapped, not from having it SLICED which is now what Susannah is writing happened in this one. I hate when authors can’t even remember what they’ve written. Secondly, I HATE love quadrangles. Yes, quadrangle, not triangle! I don’t know whether this book is supposed to be about Cage or about Melissa, Mark, Cage and Robin. This book made me REALLY dislike Melissa and I don’t have any sympathy for her character anymore. She’s basically flip flopping between lusting after Cage and “loving” her husband Mark while he tries to get over her. She honestly seemed like a horrible person in this book and I couldn’t stand her trying to get between Cage and Robin. The book starts out with her deciding to “end things” with Cage even though, to my knowledge, they never actually did anything other than kiss which wasn’t even written in the previous book or this one, we’re just told that it happened. There’s nothing to end since they never started a relationship in the first place! She just comes across as a weak, selfish and silly ninny.

Cage was kind of disappointing too as he basically admits that he doesn’t love Melissa or want her as a mate, he just really wanted to fuck her and run. Not very appealing things to read about the main male character.
