The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

"In the mortal world, when I thought you were my enemy, I still missed you."
"My sweet nemesis, how glad I am that you returned."
This book was definitely weaker than [b:The Wicked King|26032887|The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air, #2)|Holly Black|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1520620414l/26032887._SY75_.jpg|45959180] but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I do think it's one of those rarer instances, though, where I wish a book was longer.
There are a lot of unresolved plot points and build ups we never got the resolution for. For one, Jude's mother and her secrets Asha hinted towards. Then there was Asha herself, seemingly cruel and conniving but playing basically no role apart from being annoying as hell in the background. Then I was left saddened by the fact Jude's mortality was never... resolved, I presume. I guess being tied to the land will keep her alive as long as she's tied to it, but it was never explicitly established and I want my happy ending for her and Cardan. Headcannon, I guess?
I loved Cardan's growth throughout this book, going from a cruel prince to a beloved king.
