This book was so good. I was engrossed in it, and I truly empathized with Afi's plight. There's still a dismaying worldwide epidemic of women being expected to abdicate their agency, ignore their pain, swallow their dignity, and deny their own desires so that men can have what they want. It's discouraging how hard women have to fight to prove our own humanity.

That all sounds pretty depressing, and I don't want anyone cheating themselves of the experience of reading this book, as it is ultimately an uplifting story.
