Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
2.0
Rating: 2.5
I was not familiar with Howl's Moving Castle, or the movie of the same name, until it became our book club pick of December. And according to the Internet, everyone knew about it but me. I think that is why I wasn't as charmed by this book as other people may have been. The thing is that Howl's Moving Castle is rather charming and lovely, and I enjoyed it, but I wasn't at all wowed. The main reason for this was that after an initial exciting start, where I thought this story was going to be about Sophie and her sisters (I love family stories), the plot failed to captivate me. While I think Diana Wynne Jones's world building was great, her writing and storytelling dragged too much for me.
