If You Go Down to the Woods by Seth C. Adams

"Jim was chanting something that sounded druidic, but I don't think druids ever gathered around Easter Island chanting shitshitshitshitshit."

TW - Animal gets hurt, teens get hurt, use of the N word.

Well, that escalated quickly...
This one had me hooked very early on, and I just could not stop reading. It was atmospheric and, at times, a little terrifying. I know that at thirteen, I certainly wouldn't have wanted to deal with what Joey and his friends had to deal with. There were moments of humour, and I absolutely loved Joeys dog, Bandit.
A brilliant page-turner that reminded me a little of Stranger Things and Stephen Kings It. A must read.
