Ward D by Freida McFadden was my first dive into her work after hearing her name pop up everywhere, and I wasn’t disappointed! I sped through it thanks to the gripping, fast-paced style, which reminded me of John Marrs - though without his dystopian edge.
The story, set over an intense 12 hours, kept me hooked as I tried to predict the twist, only to be proven wrong. That said, I kind of preferred my imagined ending! The book constantly had me guessing how things would wrap up, which I enjoyed. My only gripe was with a few overly convenient plot points that felt a bit far-fetched. Overall, though, it’s a solid, thought-provoking read that’s hard to put down.
