 Jesus Christ.

Probably one of Bradbury's most darkest, daunting, and dismal works. Given the times when this was written (post-WWII, nuclear arms race, civil rights, etc.) it's pretty easy to understand why Bradbury wrote what he did, and felt as he did. Even amidst all the death, failures, and horror, The Martian Chronicles is still a poetic pleasure to read with a miniscule shred of hope near the end, but even that is left up to the reader.
