I always need a few days or weeks to process my reading, and I especially needed that in this case. Jeanette Winterson has a peculiar style of writing, and it was a bit hard to imagine a kid thinking and speaking the words Jeanette wrote. But once I pushed past that, I really enjoyed this book, with its vivid and strong characters.
