This is definitely not as good as the Three Body Problem trilogy. In fact I found it to be trite. The premise is that a natural disaster in the form of supernova caused anyone over 12 to die. Now some have criticized this but it was just the thing to make the story, it could have been a disease or plague. So now children have to run the world. The adults in their remaining time attempt to train the children. The Chinese characters are pretty well thought out but the other countries, especially the USA are stereotypical. It spends a lot of time on a war game that is part of the story. I guess the author has a fascination with modern war machines.
