Endgame: The Calling by James Frey, Nils Johnson-Shelton
1.0
I rarely write reviews but I just have to say something to save someone their precious time being wasted on something as terrible as this book.
A lot of reviews pointed out the massive amount of poves and how poorly they were handled, in addition to the terrible character development. Let's not forget the romance that really didn't make any sense. I didn't even feel bad anytime a character died. I didn't smile, wasn't excited, read 3 other books while reading Endgame because I couldn't focus or care to finish it, and when I did finish it, I was so happy because a burden was finally out of the way. Seriously, terrible.
The thing that pissed me off was the Arabic named person whose name implied that he's Muslim but he's really a multi religious practicer, which even in a fiction book was very insulting to me as an arabic Muslim. I've seen a lot of bullshit being written about us on so many ignorant ways, but THIS! This is by far the most insensitive, ignorant, insulting thing that I have ever read. If you want to create a new world with new gods, do not, I repeat, do NOT cross lines that you do not know how to handle correctly. If you want to demolish religions in a novel, just don't. Create, do not insult or demolish.
I've seen some Australians getting pissed off at the character that ends its sentences with "mate". I was pissed as fuck too.
And oh how about the cliche that the American won the first key? Very very surprising!
Let's not forget that he killed off the most interesting character in his entire book in a single line in the last chapter. This ended it for me.
Just save yourself the time and don't read this. Trust me!
