This is the farthest I've ever made it in previous Mercy Thompson read throughs, so this is the second time finishing this book. Mercy nearly got her ass handed to her this time but that's been true before. I imagine it's hard this many books into the series to keep things new and exciting but Patricia handles this excellently. In Storm Cursed Mercy's biggest threat are the Hardesty Witches come to wreak havoc on the tri-cities, but have they been the power behind previous encounters? One of my favorite things about this book was how much detail we get on some of the side characters including Sherwood, Larry and Wulfe. Wulfe is quickly becoming one of my favorite supporting characters because he is clearly unhinged but manages to still make the most sense at the oddest times. Throughout the book we learn so much about Sherwood's past and why it seems to be fate (or maybe chaos) brought him to the Columbia Basin pack, and while we learn more about Larry what we're really learning about is the Goblin and the Fae that aren't considered powerful enough for the gray lords to notice. Storm Cursed is medium paced and like usually with a Mercy Thompson novel the urge to read straight through without putting it down is always there. I love this series and am thinking of making some kind of study guide / guidebook for myself as I know I'll continue re-reading these stories my whole life. This series is always on the top of my suggestion list to anyone that enjoys Paranormal Urban Fantasy books.
